Learning Resource Centre (LRC)
The modern Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is situated in the heart of the College. There are two floors of resources specific to different curriculum areas (which are clearly identified with colourcoded signs) and an electronic catalogue to help you find the resources or journals you want.Close integration with the teaching staff ensures a comprehensive and wide range of books (including e-books), journals and electronic resources to support your learning throughout your time at College.
Our helpful and knowledgeable staff are there to help you in finding resources or using the computers. A dedicated staff member is also available to support you as a University Level learner.
An additional Research Centre is also available within the University Centre with computers, resources and staff to support research and higher level study for all University Level students to use.
Learning Zones
The Learning Zones enable easy access to computers to support study. There are a range of different Learning Zones around the College, each easily accessible with multiple computers in each location. They can be booked by teachers for class use but you can also book a computer for a set time and date, up to 2 weeks in advance, so that you can plan your own study programme and guarantee access to a computer.
The computers enable you to access the internet and online resources purchased by the College including e-books, plus learning resources on your Moodle (Virtual Learning Environment ) course page and access to office software and printing facilities.
The Learning Zone logo can be seen around the College to indicate where the Learning Zones are located and the logo appears on the front screen of Moodle (VLE) to enable you to access bookings from inside and outside the College.
