The start and finish point IS at South Devon College’s main campus Vantage Point, Long Road, Paignton. The race TAKES runners into the beautiful South Hams countryside along little known bridle paths and farm tracks, right down to the Mill Pond at Stoke Gabriel. With much of the route covering an area of outstanding natural beauty, the course has been described as ‘one of the most scenic 10ks in the South West’

The route encounters a couple of challenging hills and fair bit of mud, but there are significant downhill and flat stretches and stunning views and scenery.

This race is organised by South Devon College in association with South Devon Athletic Club. It offers a real life learning experience for sports and public services students who will all have roles to play on the day, whether it’s marshalling, time keeping or being part of the race day communications team. The race also raises funds to support the work of the Friends of South Devon College.

Race Director, Helen Honnor, New Developments Manager, South Devon College hopes for an even bigger turn out this year.

This is our third year and we’re trialling moving it to a Saturday late afternoon/early evening. The course remains the same – a fairly tough, but stunning 10k route. For those who came last year, you’ll know all about the fantastic free kids activities that we put on in the sports hall to keep them entertained during the main race, so it’s a really family friendly event with loads of free parking and homemade cakes!!! The fun run is ¾ mile and open to all. There will be medals to all fun runners.”

We also invite primary schools and other charities to partner up with us and use the fun run as a fundraising event for their chosen cause. Those that commit to raise sponsorship will gain free entry and the sponsorship raised will be shared equally between the runner’s nominated charity and the race charity- Friends of South Devon College.

The race charity is the friends of South Devon College which is a registered charity established to advance the education of students attending South Devon College by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities; and to advance the education, social welfare and leisure opportunities for students and the local community. Unfortunately, the multi terrain nature of the event makes is unsuitable for wheelchair users.
