There were a total of 55 apprentices nominated over 22 categories, having been shortlisted from over 1,200 apprentices on programme with the College. Nine local employers were also nominated in 3 categories, having been selected from nearly 700 businesses engaged in an apprenticeship.
At the end of the evening, the College also crowned its Apprentice of the Year from amongst the 22 award winners, which was won by Sophie Westerman of Brixham. Sophie, 20, had earlier won the Engineering Apprentice of the Year Award for her dedication and consistent excellence, having worked with 3 employers and achieving well throughout her Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship. Her new employer, Spirent Ltd., is now sponsoring Sophie on a HNC qualification in Engineering Technologies, as she continues to develop her young career.
