Design in Construction Qualifications
This subject is designed to give an introduction into the construction and built environment sector. The qualification composes of 4 units, all of which will develop knowledge and understanding of key aspects of the industry.
These units are:
- Construction Design – learn how to design buildings to meet clients briefs.
- Construction Technology – from foundations to roofs learn the processes and technology used
- Scientific and Mathematical Applications – modern construction is based on mathematics and science. Find out what effect forces have on materials
- Trade specific practical unit - Have a go at one of the following trades; Painting and Decorating, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Electrical installations and Plumbing
Why choose this qualification
The construction sector is one of the most important in the UK accounting for 2.6 million jobs, and it's growing rapidly. It is estimated that over 220,000 jobs will be created in construction over the next five years to meet the skills required to deliver a wide range of new projects. According to the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), the South-West region is set to see the highest construction output growth in the UK, and predicted to require a further 10,000 additional construction jobs by 2020.
