The Hospitality qualification is designed to inspire pupils to consider a career in the hospitality industry. It will support progression to a more specialised vocational or academic hospitality and catering course and give students the opportunity to gain a broad understanding, increased knowledge and practical skills. On completion of this qualification, students will have the potential opportunity to enter employment within a wide range of junior job roles across the hospitality industry.
Why study this qualification?
This qualification covers the different aspects of the hospitality industry, looking at its component parts and the different products and services which are offered as well as the essential processes involved in operating a hospitality business. It also covers the importance of team work and customer service for working in a variety of roles within this industry.
As part of the Food Safety and Health and Safety in Hospitality unit, students will discover the various aspects of health and safety and food safety law. Students will also examine costing and controlling finances in the hospitality industry, understanding how businesses can make a profit. On top of this, students will enjoy planning, preparing, cooking and finishing food. They will also explore the understanding and skills required to deliver food and beverages in the work environment.
