Adult & Community Learning in Torquay
We are based at Torquay Community College which prides itself on being a college committed to lifelong learning and to serving the wider community. ACL provides a programme that offers opportunities to learn a new skill, develop an interest or to gain a qualification. These courses are available at various times throughout the day and evening and are held at a range of venues in Torquay.
The staff at the Adult & Community Learning centre are a friendly team. We understand how difficult it may be for some people to take that first step back into learning. It really is completely different to how you remember school and most people who have taken the plunge quite enjoy the experience. Some adults join for one particular course only, whereas others may return year after year to follow paths of interest and personal development.
Our brochure is available in August and provides full details of what's on offer for the Autumn term. We also produce updates for the Spring and Summer terms to inform you of any new courses. We offer recreational and leisure activities, as well as vocational and academic study. The choices available range from GCSE Maths and English, to Spanish for Beginners, Watercolour Painting and Hatha yoga.
Adult & Community Learning offers free tuition to students in receipt of recognised benefits wishing to study on academic and vocational courses. There are also reductions available on other courses for those in receipt of certain means-tested benefits.
If you cannot find anything to suit you, then do let us know as we can often set up courses to meet students' needs. You can always phone for an informal chat and to discuss possible options. We are here to help you: it’s your community, your courses - give them a try!
We provide a Stepping Out programme for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Contact us to find out which courses we are offering at the moment.
