IMI MOT Testing and Inspection Accreditation Combination Level 2/3
This is a combination course which includes the IMI Level 3 Accreditation (Inspection Route) and Level 2 Award in MOT testing (Classes 4 and 7). This course is offered at a reduced rate when the two pathways are booked together.
This qualification is designed to help experienced and knowledgeable technicians to enhance their career. The IMI Level 3 Inspection Accreditation is purely an assessment activity which takes place on one day. The Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 and 7) is delivered and assessed over a five day period.
Once all elements of the Accreditation (Inspection) have been passed, to progress onto a Level 2 Award in MOT Testing a learner must:
have a current and full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes they want to test
be a skilled mechanic with at least 4 years full-time employment in the service and repair of the vehicle types to be tested. (Apprentices who have been employed for 4 years are eligible.)
have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation
be ‘of good repute’

- You must be able to work unsupervised - ideally, they should be in full time employment with at least 3 years experience to ensure they are familiar with the techniques for vehicle servicing, inspection and system(s) diagnosis.
